Aniek van Koot was thrilled when she found out the European Wheelchair Tennis Championships finals would take place in the heart of Rotterdam on August 12 and 13, envisioning herself amidst the city’s center. The matches will be held on Schouwburgplein, and those matches are free to enter.
The Goalball team was busy with their final practices today, preparing for their first game tomorrow. For us, a great opportunity to talk to them about the sport.
From Boccia battles to intense Wheelchair Tennis matches and exciting Para Judo moments, the second day was a true spectacle of determination, skill and sportsmanship! #EPC2023

In addition to the exciting top sports games, EPC2023 offered a variety of other experiences. Interesting clinics for wheelchair basketball and table tennis took place this morning. Later in the day, a wheelchair tennis clinic was also scheduled, from 16:30 to 19:00 at the Sport Plaza 2 in Rotterdam Ahoy. During the entire day, from 10:00 to 18:30, the House of Esports space welcomed visitors in the Sports Plaza.

In the Boccia competition, the third round in the BC1 categories will be played now. André Ramos from Portugal will compete against Martin Frkovic from Croatia. In the first round, André Ramos won yesterday against Padraic Moran from Ireland, who won his match against Martin Frkovic in the 2nd round this morning.

After a super exciting Para Judo final, the gold medalist in J2 -90 was: Latchoumanaya from France. He defeated Oleksandr Nazarenko from Ukraine.
Diede de Groot and Anniek van Koot managed to win their semifinals in the Women’s Quads by wide margins. With 6-0 6-0 the Dutch ladies were a size too big for Nalani Buob and Angela Grosswiller from Switzerland.
In the battle for the bronze medal in the category J1 +90kg, Daniel Knegt (the Netherlands) lost from Onur Tastan (Turkey). The second bronze medal game in this category was won by Jason Grandry (France). The battle for gold and silver was won by Ion Basoc from Moldova. He defeated Ilham Zakiyev from Azerbaijan in the final.
The women’s battle in the category J1 -57 kg was won by Dondu Yesilyurt from Turkey. Silver was for Anzhela Havrysiuk from Ukraine. The battle for the bronze medals was won by Flora Buranyi (Hungary) and Maria Manzanero Ruiz (Spain)
After a strong start by Kruszelnicki in the second set, Scheffers still pulled the win to him. In an exciting final match, Scheffers walked away with a 6-3 6-4 win.
In Wheelchair Tennis, Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot will be in action in the women’s doubles in a few minutes. They will play the Swiss duo Nalani Buob/Angela Grosswiler in the semifinals. The match on Center Court starts at 16:00.

After an exciting final match, Cretul from Moldova has become the winner in the category J1-90KG. Cretul may soon receive the gold medal.
The battle between Scheffers and Kruszelnicki is an evenly matched contest. Scheffers wins the first set in very strong fashion 6-3. Now Kruszelnicki is leading 0-2. He is starting incredibly strong in this second set.
