A beautiful collaboration between the European Para Championships and TikTok, the entertainment platform for sharing short videos, led to an unprecedented number of live viewers on Friday, August 11. During the Goalball matches, a sport played by blind or visually impaired athletes, over 411,000 people watched via the TikTok account @europarachamps.
At the European Para Championships, from August 8 to 20 in Rotterdam, athletes compete in ten different sports for the European titles. The Goalball matches on August 11 not only managed to attract a significant number of viewers, but the engagement of the audience with the account was also exceptional. Since the start of the event, the official TikTok account of the European Para Championships has accounted for nearly 2 million video views. This illustrates and emphasizes the growing interest in Goalball and para sports in general. The viewing time per viewer was also impressive, with an average duration of 12 minutes.
Throughout the tournament, there’s a lot to see on the entertainment platform: from behind-the-scenes footage to warm-up images, highlights of the matches, and reactions from the athletes. Through the hashtag #EPC2023, fans can find and share all event-related content. Moreover, this can be found on the official #EPC2023 Search Hub, where all the latest posts from the organization, the official broadcasters, and teams & athletes are bundled together.
