European Para Championships receives extended patronage from European Paralympic Committee

European Para Championships Management, the owner of the European Para Championships concept, is proud to extend its partnership with the European Paralympic Committee until at least 2035. The European Paralympic Committee has renewed its patronage to the European Para Championships, providing crucial support in various capacities. This support includes the endorsement of the Games stamp, facilitating communication with European Paralympic Committee members, and contributing to the ongoing development of the European Para Championships across the continent.

The shared goal is to host the European Para Championships every four years. Leveraging its affiliations with the International Paralympic Committee and the European Union, the European Paralympic Committee will actively promote the expansion and enhancement of the European Para Championships, not only in upcoming cycles but at least until the 2035 edition.

Recognizing the pivotal role of the Championships as a pre-qualification platform for the Paralympics for many years to come is crucial for the European Para Championships, says Eric Kersten, Founder of the European Para Championships: “Through the extended patronage, the European Paralympic Committee acknowledges the significance of the European Para Championships as a multisport event offering qualifying competitions for the forthcoming Paralympic Games across various sports. For us, this is crucial in our journey to further develop the concept and facilitate the growth of many great para sports in Europe!”

Raymon Blondel, President of the European Paralympic Committee, is thrilled to witness the further growth of Para sports throughout the continent: “We are delighted to extend our patronage and support to the European Para Championships. The success of the first edition last summer put the excellent concept beyond doubt. We are excited to continue working with the team behind it to grow and improve future editions for the benefit of Members, athletes and the great community of Para sports we are growing across the region.”

With a commitment to its growth and inclusivity, the European Paralympic Committee has chosen to endorse and extend support to the European Para Championships. Presently encompassing 10 sports, both the European Paralympic Committee and European Para Championships management envision a broader horizon for the Championships. Aspiring to welcome additional International Federations, if feasible within the concept, in subsequent editions in 2027, 2031, 2035, and beyond.
