Geneva to host the European Para Championships 2027

The European Para Championships will take place in Geneva from 2 to 15 August 2027. The city has been confirmed as the host for the second edition of the multi-sport event, which brings together several European Championships in para sports.

Following the first edition in Rotterdam, the move to Geneva marks the next step in building a recurring, inclusive and high-level event for para-athletes across Europe. The Championships will take place in the year leading up to the Paralympic Games and will offer athletes the opportunity to compete for European titles and qualification (points) for LA28.

Events will be staged at Palexpo, Geneva’s international exhibition and sports venue, as well as at public locations in the city centre. This approach is designed to bring sport closer to people, increase visibility, and create opportunities for meaningful community engagement.

“Hosting the European Para Championships offers Geneva the opportunity to strengthen its position as a European centre for para sport,” said Thierry Apotheloz, member of the Geneva Cantonal Government. “We look forward to welcoming athletes and spectators and creating an event with lasting impact.”

The European Para Championships are developed in close partnership with host cities and federations. Together, we aim to create an environment that supports athletes, engages communities, and sets new standards for inclusive sport events in Europe.

“Geneva stands for international cooperation and inclusion, values that are central to our identity as an event,” said Eric Kersten, founder of the European Para Championships. “We are proud to bring the next edition to a city that shares our ambition and our values.”

Raymon Blondel, President of the European Paralympic Committee: “The European Paralympic Committee is absolutely delighted that the next edition of the European Para Championships is heading to such a wonderful stage: Geneva. Following on from Rotterdam 2023, it is very exciting to be a part of writing the next chapter for this innovative concept, which I am sure will gain even more strength as a result of the 2027 edition in Switzerland.”

The full programme, list of sports and venues will be announced in 2026.
