The European Para Championships has entered the final stages of selecting the host city for its second edition in 2027. Following the inaugural event in Rotterdam, which united ten para sports in one inclusive, city-centred celebration, the next edition is scheduled for August 2027.
In recent months, the organization reconnected with cities and countries that had previously expressed formal interest. This led to the decision to briefly reopen the bidding process, resulting in valuable new perspectives and proposals. While an announcement was initially expected in Q1 of 2025, changing external circumstances made that timeline unfeasible.
“Following the inclusion of ten sports in the Rotterdam event, our goal is to expand the number of sports in 2027,” said Eric Kersten, Founder of the European Para Championships. “Given the interest from various international sports federations, we will need to make a selection in collaboration with the host city. Unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate all interested sports, depending on the facilities available in the host city. However, our journey does not end in 2027; we are already looking ahead to 2031 and beyond!”
