Tristan Bangma and Patrick Bos also won gold at the European Para Championships a week after the World Championships in Glasgow. In the Tandems Men class they were almost half a minute faster than Vincent ter Schure and Timo Fransen after 15 kilometers with a finishing time of 17.59 minutes.
Para cyclists Tristan Bangma and Patrick Bos are on a roll winning gold medals. Last week in Glasgow at the World Championships, they won gold in the track pursuit, the time trial on the road and they were also the fastest pair in the road race. “It’s great to have a European Championship in our own country after we just became world champions last week. We got to participate here again in the rainbow jersey. That’s fantastic here at home.”
Bangma is delighted that the European Para Championships are being held in Rotterdam. “There are very nice events at the EPC2023, throughout Rotterdam. This is super good for the parasport and it gives us a lot more attention because of this. It’s super nice that step by step we are getting more prestige.”
For both men, the tournament schedule is busy. Last week they were at the World Cup in Glasgow and next week they travel to America for a gravel race. “Pretty much 250 kilometers on gravel, so quite a different discipline. It’s over 30 degrees there, so it’s another dimension. It’s also a bit of a dessert. So no pressure, we don’t have to do anything. So if we don’t perform it doesn’t matter either.”
